During the entire month of June, Rio de Janeiro pulses with activities. Nine days in the middle of the month, from 13th until 22nd June are the culmination of this rage. Over 500 events will take place in less than 220 hours.

Agricultural transition - into a viable food future

Launch of the new issue of the AgriCultures Network magazines

From 13th until 15th June the third Preparatory Committee Meeting will take place in the Rio Centro conference centre. In parallel, civil society organisations will run numerous side-events.

From 16th until 19th June the conference centre will open to civil society organisations during four Days of Dialogue on Sustainable Development. On 17th June ILEIA will launch the new issue of the Agricultures Network magazines during the event: Agricultural transition - into a viable food future.

From 20th until 22nd June the UN conference on Sustainable Development takes place. This is the third Earth Summit, after the conference in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and the conference in Johannesburg in 2002. Government representatives and heads of states (amongst others Vladimir Putin and Francois Hollande) will attend this event.

In parallel to events in the Rio Centro conference centre, Flamengo park in the city centre of Rio de Janeiro will host the alternative People’s Summit. This event will gather numerous civil society organisations who care about the future of our planet. Day three and four of the People’s Summit are devoted to the topic of food security and sustainable agriculture. AS-PTA is actively involved in preparation of the programme. ILEIA will attend the People’s Summit and host the AgriCultures’ stand.
