Cordel do fundo solidário
Work by family farmers is organized around and uses relations of trust and solidarity. In the Brazilian semi-arid numerous initiatives based on communal solidarity have emerged. Amongst these are initiatives that can be grouped as rotating solidarity banks. Through these initiatives farmers can acquire resources, for example money, seed or livestock, from a communal resource bank. At a later time the farmer returns the resource so that it can be used by other farmers.
In the Paraíba region several of these initiatives, each of which has developed in their own specific way, have been constructed. In this booklet these experiences were used to create a list of good practices.
