Sustainable Usage of Water- 水的可持续利用
60% of the world food production relies on dryland agriculture. Livelihood of small-scale farmers becomes fragile due to climate change. What shall we do to minimize the impact to farmers?
Small-scale water resource facility may improve the buffering capacity of the land, however, observation shows the consequence of soil salinization. Are there any solution to water scarcity?
Farmers engaged in organic farming have confirmed that water capacity in their soil has increased annually so that they may still yield in dry years.

4 - 6WWF started pilot projects for water resource protection in Yuantian village of Bi County in Sichuan province. These projects include recovering the function of natural purification mechanisms in Yutze river, promotion of rural biogas digesters, application of community-supported ecological agriculture, the construction of wetlands, etc. It represents an innovative strategy of multiple-protection for water resources in a rural area. The practices demonstrate that the strategy helps to solve problems of degradation of the natural function of the river, pollution by chemical fertilzer and pesticide, feces pollution, and household waste water, etc.

Water also plays a key role in conserving nature: ecosystems depend on flows of water. The availability (and quality) of water is of concern to everybody. But different uses and different interests and priorities have led to many tensions, conflicts and scarcities all over the world. Water is a resource we need to care for, nurture, manage and govern. Doing so involves getting everybody around the water table.
