The United Nations Conference of Sustainable Development (UNCSD), known as Rio+20, will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 20 -22. It is expected to deliver measures to address the multiple crises the world is currently facing over energy, food, climate, poverty and finance.
In the run up to the Summit, the European Union has actively promoted a “green economy”. What does the concept of the green economy involve and what does it imply for policies in the EU and beyond? Does it provide much needed solutions to protect the environment and promote a real shift towards sustainable economies? Who will benefit from the green economy and why has the concept attracted criticism?
Join the debate whether the green economy promoted by the EU is the right approach for Rio+20 and a solution for the current global crisis.
